Since the Cyanogenmod buildbot is offline until version 9 (ICS) and the current provider of Kangs baldwinguy77 was no longer a g2x user (but still willing to build for us what a nice person!) I decided to try and compile a nightly.  I decided to turn my laptop (the Gateway mentioned in older posts) into a dual boot Windows 7 / Ubuntu 11.10 machine.  The next thing was to locate build instructions but instead I ran across two great scripts to set up and build Cyanogenmod.  The first one found here helped me get everything loaded that the compile process needs and the second one found here let me create a working rom for my phone.  I learned a great deal about git and repo and syncing along the way.  I also had to repoint the CyanogenMod Compiler (CMC) to the repo I downloaded with the first script as my Ubuntu had a max 30gig which I filled up … so you need lots of space….

Anyhow if you have a LG/T-Mobile G2X and want to try the latest Cyanogenmod nightly you can download it here.  Just remember I only compiled this all credit for the actual functioning goes to the Cyanogenmod team!  You can find them here.

A big thank you to Cyanogenmod team, nicandris for the first script mentioned, and lithid-cm for Cyanogenmod Compiler without them it would have been a much longer process!!

I guess it has been since June that I last posted. I am still enjoying my Acer Iconia now with Honeycomb 3.2 (rooted). I also still enjoy the Gateway laptop and the wireless fix I outlined earlier is still working great. I did recently get a new point and shoot camera the Sony DSC-HX9V and so far it is great. 16x optical zoom and automatic everything, great no flash inbetween quality with multi-shot averaging to make a good shot (If I understand what it is doing).

Acer Iconia Tablet A500

Recently my G-tablet went to the birds screen and I finally broke down and purchased the Iconia from Costco. It is the 32gb + Acer case bundle. So far I really like it. I did get a different case from Best Buy / Targus which is really great except it is a bit bulky and the closure strap tends to cover the back facing camera. I will update as I play with additional stuff.

I am still using and loving the G-Tablet thanks to Roebeet and his great ROMs.  He now has three based on the newest kernel released by Viewsonic / TapnTap (1.2 development branch) Mountain Laurel (Based on TntLite which was 1.1 based), Century Eyes (Based on the Notion Ink Adam firmware which was 1.1 based), and my current favorite Brilliant Corners (Based on the VEGA / Viewpad 10 firmware).  Roebeet recently moved his active ROM projects to Slatedroid (http://www.slatedroid.com/forum/102-viewsonic-viewpadg-tab/).

Thank you Roebeet for your efforts!!!
